Blogpost 4 In which she tells me to introduce my hearing dog Matt

Michael & Matt 1

“How was that,” I asked?“Not bad,” she said, her mouth full as she crunched into an apple.” But I prefer your serious stuff. Maybe next post you can put some poetry up.”“OK, I said. “But what should this post be about?”She was munching her way methodically round the apple and didn’t reply for a moment. “I think they need to know a bit more about you,” she said.“Are you sure?” I asked in surprise. “There’s not much that’s interesting about me beyond the writing, you know. And anyway, there’s a biography of me up on another page of this web site.”“Oh I don’t know,” she said. The bio’s great. It’s funny, but I think you need to disclose a few more person facts.”“Such as what?” I asked.“Well, that you’re deaf and you have a hearing dog, for example. And that he’s met the Princess Royal. And then there’s the fact that you used to run a business – a group of care homes, but you retired to write. You could put up that picture from the day the Princess came to visit.”“I don’t have permission to use the royal one, I said, but I could put this one up.”“Yeah, that’ll do,” she said. “But goodness, you look young in that.”“Don’t push your luck,” I said. She giggled and gave a girlie kind of shrug.I think you should put another one of Matt up, actually. You get a lot of brownie points for posts of cute dogs and cats.

“How about this one?” I asked.“Yeah, that’s definitely a cute picture of Matt,” she said. “That one could go viral.”“Oh no!” I said. I wouldn’t want him to get ill.
